Fantasy Predictions

Here's just some rambling on what I think will come of this fantasy season.

Wes Welker will continue to defy the haters and skeptics and put up great numbers that make him an every week WR1 or WR2 guy. His 2 TD performance on Thursday against the Ravens could be a sign of things to come with Peyton Manning as his QB.

Joe Flacco will quietly have a solid season. Yes, Flacco is known to be average in the regular season, but in the Broncos game, Flacco was throwing almost every down and Ray Rice only had 34 yards on very few carries. Despite two picks, he amassed 362 yards and 2 TDs, good enough for a score of 20 in most standard leagues. While he may not be an every week starter, he is an excellent back up to have and a go-to if you have "more elite" QB who is on bye.

Continuing with the Ravens, Ray Rice will have an awful season by his standards. You see it every year, Rice starts off hot, getting a pair of TDs in many early outings, only to consistently put up mediocre numbers in the second half of the season. This year, it might be even worse, with Rice only gathering 34 yards rushing against the Broncos. Not only did he have a lack of carries, but also did not have any good rushes, many times crashing into the line of scrimmage for small gains. If the Ravens continue to play a pass heavy offense and Bernard Pierce starts cutting into his workload, Rice could have a catastrophic season for fantasy owners who took him in the first round.

Danny Amendola will fill Wes Welker's role on the Patriots and have a favorable season. Here's how I look at it. Whenever you have Tom Brady or Peyton Manning on a team, the receivers flourish. Last season, Welker, Gronkowski, and Hernandez in addition to D. Thomas and Eric Decker were all fantasy threats with Brady and Manning as their QBs. Now, with Welker and Hernandez gone, and Gronk injured, Amdenola is the no doubt number 1 WR. Being Tom Brady's number 1 WR is a fantasy dream, just as we've seen with Randy Moss and Welker. Amdendola is an every week start.

Robert Griffin will not have a good year. Yes, I know I picked him for my comeback player of the year, but its really him and Revis in contention and I think Revis is overhyped. However, we know Griffin wants to play at literally all costs and I can't help but worry that he came back far too soon from his knee injury and will not be able to run the read-option as well as last year. In addition, he runs the risk of further injury, and with all the damage done last year, any injury this year could be season ending. My advice, trade him for a safer pocket passer like Andrew Luck or Matt Ryan.

T.Y. Hilton will have a break out year. This guy is a speed machine who I believe will start to transition into the Colts #1 WR as Reggie Wayne begins to slow. With Luck as his QB, Hilton could be both a deep threat and a short pass option, with speed to beat a defender downfield and break into open field. If you can get him or have him, make him your number 1 slot or number 2 WR unless you have someone much better.
